Dating Asians Online Is More Like OnlyFans Than You Think!
The Hard Truth About Online Long-Distance Love with Filipinas & Southeast Asians, It’s Closer to OnlyFans Than You Think. I’m bringing the receipts!
I’m not saying there are no successful couples who met online, I am saying if you’re not here or coming to Asia within the next month or so, you should look at online relationships as nothing more than an only fans interaction. Get your jollies, but don’t expect love. Before you start raging in the comments, follow the link to the article on my website and there you will find the links to the sources that support my argument.
Hey guys, I’m Joe Gilbert here. I’ve lived in the Philippines for 3 years and have chatted with hundreds of guys and watched many of the same YouTube videos on this topic as you probably have. The difference here is that I’m not just parroting what others have said for years, or relating anecdotal examples. I’ve actually done the research and have brought the real data for you to see for yourself. I’m not here to hate on Filipinas or Asian women, but I will layout the economic facts and you can decided for yourself if having a bunch of men on a string is immoral or acceptable.
I also know first hand that there are many great relationships and marriages that started online. I’m not saying they aren’t real, what I am going to do is give you the numbers, some good tips for success, and let you calculate your own odds of winning.
The problem
Falling in love with a Filipina, Thai, or Vietnamese woman you’ve never met in person is in the overwhelming majority of cases functionally identical to falling in love with an OnlyFans model.
Why? Because the economic incentive structure is the same:
She will usually have 3–10 foreign “boyfriends” at the same time.
Each one believes he is the only one.
Each one is sending $100–$1,000+ per month.
She will say “I love you” and “I miss you baby” to all of them on schedule.
I noticed this in 2022 when I started exploring Facebook groups for expats in the Philippines. I repeatedly saw the same women in several groups, and with a little digging, I am a retired investigator, I also discovered many of them were also live-streaming on sites like Bigo Live, Dream Live, and Mango Live
These Platforms pay per gift, exactly like OnlyFans.
Extrapolating the facts
If you’re a lonely guy looking for companionship, and you keep sending say $300 a month to someone you’ve never met, she’s bringing in $3600 USD per year. Let’s keep the math easy, If she has 10 guys sending that same amount, that $36,000 per year. The average Filipino income is around $6000 USD per year.
What this means for you:
You likely drain your savings trying to “help her and her family.”
You very well may eventually fly over, spend $4,000–$8,000 on the trip, only to discover she has a local boyfriend or husband.
She ghosts you the moment you stop sending money or say you’re coming over.
You are left broken hearted and embarrassed.
God forbid you marry her, bring her to the west, she leaves you for a young stud, and she takes half of your marital assets. This pattern is not rare, it’s the statistical norm for (never-met in person) online relationships that started with money transfers.
So how do you avoid this trap
Rule #1: Never send money to someone you haven’t met in person and have spent at least 2–3 weeks with on the ground. Zero exceptions. Not for her sick mama, or for tuition, and especially not for her broken or lost iPhone. If she leaves you because you won’t send money before meeting her, you just saved yourself a lot of money and heartache.
Rule #2: Assume every dating profile on Tinder/Bumble in the Philippines under age 27 is either a ladyboy or openly looking for a sponsor. It’s not 10% , it’s the majority. Multiple 2024–2025 field reports and user discussions confirm this as fact.
Rule #3: If you do find a genuine girl online, fly over within 3–6 months max and spend real time with her family and friends. 99% of the multiple boyfriend scams collapse the moment you’re physically there. If you discover you’ve been played, enjoy your time here as a vacation and you will likely meet a nice Filipina in person.
Hard Truth
There are still legit, traditional, good-hearted Filipinas and Southeast Asian women, but they are almost never the ones aggressively chatting up 50-year-old foreigners on Tinder or Facebook at 2 a.m.

Encouragement
Listen, I’m not telling you to give up on Asian women. Real love exists — but it almost never starts at 3 a.m. with “Baby can you help me with load”. Protect your wallet, protect your heart, fly over, meet in person, and you still have every chance of finding an amazing traditional woman.
